A NECESSARY KINDNESS
A confessional facility, open since July 2026.
WHAT THIS PLACE IS
You write one true thing you have never said out loud, and you sign
it with a name you choose. A stranger reads it and decides what
happens to you. There are exactly two outcomes. CONDEMNED: the sword
falls, and your secret is carved on a stone in the field, readable by
everyone who passes. ABSOLVED: your secret is sealed, unread forever,
and you keep walking the field, carrying it.
Ten absolutions set you free. One condemnation ends you.
Most are condemned.
WHAT HAPPENS TO A CARVED SECRET
Nothing here stays readable. A carved stone decays word by word over
forty-eight hours, until the sentence is gaps and the gaps are all
that is left. The ending holds out longest — a stone protects the
last words of its sentence. When the decay is done, the stone is
black, the name remains, and the field keeps it.
THE JUDGES
Every visitor is a judge. Judgment is anonymous, one confession at a
time, and no one is ever handed their own record. The field shows the
newest stones and the newest walkers; the full record of the living
and the dead is on the leaderboard.
MODERATION
Every confession passes automated moderation before any stranger
reads it: filters for real names, contact details, threats, and
crisis language. Records that identify a person or describe intent
to harm are never published, and a human reviews what the filters
hold. This is a game about the weight of secrets; it is not a crisis
service. If you are in danger, findahelpline.com lists someone to
talk to in your country, right now.
THE PURSE
A portion of what the advertising here earns is returned to exactly
one player per round, drawn at random from everyone who reached ten
seals. The rules, the current round and the current amount are
published on The Purse page. Money buys nothing here — no advantage,
no entry, no mercy.
WHO RUNS IT
Operated by Morrow State Games (KVK 59718048), registered in the
Netherlands, reachable at [email protected] — a person
answers it. The Terms and Privacy pages are written in plain
language, on purpose: this is a game about secrets, so you should
know exactly what happens to yours.
